Bamford Academy launch Bamford Boost!

News - 29 April 2025

This week marked the start of the new Early Adopter Breakfast Club (EABC) at Bamford Academy.

The school is one of 750 early adopters across the country, and the only one in Rochdale!

Bamford Boost! is now open from 8:00am for pupils from reception to year 6 every day for 30 minutes for breakfast, socialising, play and learning. The club replaces the old Peacocks and encourages children to participate in activity and play, whilst providing a warm, settling start to the day, including a FREEbreakfast!

As the only school across Rochdale borough to be involved, Bamford feel honoured and excited to be testing different approaches to see what will work well when the full roll-out across the UK commences in September 2026 by the Department for Education.

Mrs Gaskell, Headteacher at Bamford Academy, commented on the positive start to Breakfast Boost! and how lovely it’s been to see the children coming into school, choosing their breakfasts, helping other pupils, and enjoying the new toys and arts & crafts. She continued ‘The children have been a credit to our academy, and we have seen so many smiling faces!’ The academy has received so many wonderful comments from parents and carers about being involved in the pilot and we thank them for their support.

Altus are supporting Bamford Academy deliver the club. Richard Ronksley, CEO of the Trust said, ‘Over 50 pupils are already benefiting from the free breakfast club. I am so pleased and proud that we are able to provide so many young people with such a healthy and fun way to start the day!’
