A school strengthened by its community
We are delighted that the report recognises the positive culture that has been developed at Edgar Wood Academy. Inspectors describe a school where relationships are a clear strength and where students feel supported in their learning and personal development.
The inspection report highlights that:
- “Pupils are delighted by the improvements that leaders have recently made to the school… many cited their teachers as the best thing about school.”
- “Warm and positive interactions between staff and pupils begin in the morning and continue throughout the day.”
- “Pupils feel listened to and supported. They trust that staff will not give up on them.”
- “Pupils feel a clear sense of belonging.”
These findings reflect the Trust’s shared commitment to ensuring every young person is known, valued and able to thrive within a safe and ambitious learning environment.
Continuous improvement across the school
The report also acknowledges the considerable progress made in key areas of school development, including curriculum design, teaching quality, behaviour and leadership. This reflects the sustained focus on school improvement at Edgar Wood Academy as it continues its journey as a growing and developing school within Altus Education Partnership.
We remain committed to ensuring that improvement continues, so that every student benefits from the highest quality education and opportunities.
About the new Ofsted framework
This inspection was carried out under Ofsted’s updated inspection framework, which replaces previous single headline judgements with a more detailed report card approach. This provides families with a clearer and more rounded picture of a school’s strengths and areas for development.
